Partaking of Communion began as an act of remembrance, recognizing the finished work of Christ at the cross and looking to His future return. It had nothing to do with confessing your sins, being confirmed in the faith, or being worthy to partake. We are all unworthy, but we are made worthy, not by any act we do, but by the blood of the Lamb.
