Do not take the practical application of Colossians 3 out of context and turn it into legalism. The instruction to “mortify the flesh” does not mean you can fix your problems through will-worship. You must bring the sins you grapple with to the Spirit so that He can help you. You are either living in Christ or out of Christ. Check where your focus is, and stay connected in union with Christ.
