Meekness and temperance are part of the provisions that God has given us to overcome the flesh. Whether that is keeping our tongue, our thoughts, or our temper under God’s control, He has made provision for it all. Since God’s Spirit is doing the work in us, we are not “using” these tools; rather, we must surrender to them. By doing so, God helps us to overcome.
