When looking for an individual sitting on the throne of David, we automatically think it must be someone of the Pharez line, for that is what is chronicled in the New Testament genealogies. However, we must read the prophecy out of Jeremiah 33:17 carefully. When we look at the Zerah line as well, we can see that God’s promise is still ongoing, and we see His hand in history making all things come to pass. The same can be seen when we look at the tribe of Benjamin, and the Levites.
