Paul makes four categories of mankind: the natural man, babes in Christ, carnal believers, and spiritual Christians. The natural man cannot hear the message; the babe in Christ grows, feeding on the sincere milk of the Word; carnal believers are never confronted with facing themselves, leaving them in a state of arrested spiritual development; and spiritual Christians constantly feed on the Word, both milk and meat.
