It is the work of the Holy Spirit to “reprove” sin, which is to expose sin and to set it right by bringing us to repentance, specifically to turn us from the sin of failing to recognizing Christ. The ability both to proclaim the word and to receive are dependent on the presence of God’s Spirit in us, and once the seed is planted it will produce change in us.
