Depression afflicts many people, great and small, throughout history and throughout the Bible. It is the quiet disease of the soul. As with the psalmist, the answer starts when we talk to ourselves and challenge ourselves to focus on God ordering our steps instead of on the whys that have us down. Remember to thank the Lord for the smallest blessings: He has started a work in us and He completes what He starts. Most of our spiritual growth happens while we are in the valleys and in the darkness. God is in control and has given us the template, not leaving us in the valleys, so don't quit!
