You cannot make yourself righteous; for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God but God justified us freely by sending One who kept the Old Testament Law and redeemed us with that perfect life in order to give us a fresh start at giving God what He wants: faith.  And, Christians do not practice faith because of the results that we see here and now.
