The literal translation of the "present" that Gideon brought to the Lord in Judges 6:18 is the Meal Offering. Of all offerings in the Old Testament, the Meal Offering typified the offering to God of righteous works with no death involved. Some Christians like to concentrate on this offering of works, but when you bring up the burnt offering, those same Christians are turned off.
