Understanding why Jesus had to die has many nuances that can be found throughout the Bible. The consequence for our fallen, sin-stained condition is death, but Jesus died as a substitute sacrifice in our place.  We escape the curse of the law through His finished work at the cross and the barrier between us and God is gone.  We are still sinners, but those who are in Christ will note receive God’s wrath.
