After the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot’s daughters tried to take matters into their own hands by repopulating through incest with their father.  The descendants of those children were the Moabites and the Ammonites.  They were pagans that warred with God’s people and robbed them, but there were some like Ruth that turned to God.  When we are disobedient, God can still show us grace if we turn back to Him.  VF-2527.
