Elijah's traits included obedience to God's word, constant awareness of God's presence, and concern for God above his own needs. God taught Elijah to trust the giver of the gift more than the gift itself an put Elijah through some tough training as the brook that Elijah needed for water dried up and his food supply came from ravens and a poor widow.
