Paul’s needs were irrelevant to the hilarious giving Philippians. They gave as one who gives the burnt offering in the Old Testament, a sacrifice wholly consumed for God’s pleasure. These hilarious giving offerings give God pleasure and Philippians 4:19 makes it clear that “God shall supply all our needs”. This verse is conditional and only refers to Christians who give as the Philippians gave: for heavenly rewards and to give God pleasure and not because the recipient needed it.
