Our personality consists of a conscious and subconscious state of being. The subconscious level consists of the “I want” side of our personality. The conscious level consists of two parts: the Judicial (I ought) Side and the Executive (I will) Side. A Generalized Other forms in our Judicial Side as we grow up, and it lets us know what’s good and what’s bad in our particular society. The church rightly replaces society’s Generalized Other with God’s Will, but traditional Christians then wrongly replace God’s Will with disciplined willpower (will-worship) consisting of who has the most willpower to keep a set of rules that oftentimes is not even found in God’s Word. 1 Corinthians 1:18. VF-0644. © Copyright 1989
