Laodicea was a "lukewarm" church full of people who believed they were rich, increased with goods, and in need of nothing, but were instead wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. The message to Laodicea is to be hot in faith, gold tried in fire. Pressure squeezes the best out. The comfortable church ends up neither hot nor cold. Hebrews 3; Revelation 3; Romans 5.
