A moral person is adjudged a “good person” if he internalizes and does that which the world agrees is the good and avoids that which is bad.  When this view of oneself as a “good person” is raised to the level of deification and called “righteousness”, that very “goodness” becomes the most evil of all sins: spiritual pride.
